Salon based: 12 months (full-time in salon or barbershop). School based: 18 months (1 day a week in salon or barbershop).

Trainees must be employed by a salon or barbershop under a traineeship agreement.

Experience and the skills expected of a salon assistant are learnt whilst working in a commercial hairdressing salon or barbershop as a trainee.

Taylorweir expands on the workplace training by providing the trainee with an “Off the Job Trainee Training Program” at Taylorweir. This off the job training delivers the underpinning knowledge required in this qualification to ensure that each trainee who completes is ready to commence Certificate III in Hairdressing or Certificate III in Barbering
